Role of trace minerals

Manganese is a trace mineral found in the human body. Most humans have about 10 or 20mg in their bodies and It is found mostly in bones and also in the liver, kidneys, and pancreas. Manganese has various functions within the human body, such as helping the body form connective tissue, bones, blood clotting factors, and sex hormones. It also plays a role in fat and carbohydrate metabolism, calcium absorption, and blood sugar regulation. Manganese is also necessary for normal brain and nerve function.  Low levels of manganese in the body can contribute to infertility, bone malformation, weakness, and seizures.

Selenium:  Most of the selenium in the body comes from diet. Selenium is used for diseases of the heart and blood vessels, including strokes. It is also used for preventing various cancers including cancer of the prostate, stomach, lung, and skin and in promoting a healthy thyroid.

Some people use selenium for osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis (RA), an eye disease called muscular degeneration, hay fever, infertility, cataracts, grey hair and chronic fatigue syndrome

Magnesium is the fourth most abundant mineral in the body and is essential to good health.  It helps maintain normal muscle and nerve function, keeps heart rhythm steady, supports a healthy immune system, and keeps bones strong. Magnesium also helps regulate blood sugar levels, promotes normal blood pressure, and is known to be involved in energy metabolism.  If you are deficient in magnesium, you might experience muscle weakness, tremor, or spasm, heart arrhythmia, irregular contraction, or increased heart rate, softening and weakening of bones, imbalanced blood sugar levels or headaches.
